mike had planned on going to the Praha auto show with someone from school, and then something came up last minute and they couldn't go. so being the amazing and kind wife i am, i suffered through looking at a bunch of cars with him. (i'm such a brat! he totally would have done the same for me.) it actually ended up being a pretty fun time, as it always is when we just get some time for just the 2 of us. mike said the cars were not as good as they usually are at the vancouver auto show, but he still thought it was cool seeing some random european cars. and we got some treats at the end of the show :)

berlin, germany
grrr... i have written 2 different posts for this trip and blogger has deleted both of them!! tumblr, here i come!
anyhoo... i'll give you the short version of this trip so i can post it. mike had to go to berlin for a long weekend for IB training for work. so riverside being the kind school it is, let me go with! yah! it was a 4 hour train ride there, that was beautiful. i love the train! our friends ange and brooke joined us for a couple days too and we did a walking tour of berlin, where we saw brandenburg gate, the memorial to the murdered jews of europe, the wall, the parking lot which is now known as "the parking lot that is over the bunker where hitler committed suicide", checkpoint charlie, and did a bit of shopping and ate at some great restaurants. we packed a lot into a little bit of time and it was amazing! we love berlin. the wall itself was just mind blowing to see. to see this and know that this happened in our time. remembering the little bits and pieces about the "berlin wall coming down" from when i was nine, that are still floating in my brain. it was really amazing. our guide for the walking tour was fantastic too. giving us all the historic details that i more than likely ignored in high school history class. there were a couple parts of the wall that we saw. there is the part that is still broken down and then there is east side gallery, which is all painted up by different artists.
so that is the quick version of this trip. it was a quick trip anyway, so i guess its appropriate for a quickie post.

2 years already??
Ok. So maybe its 2.5 by the time I'm posting this. haha! But really, the time we have been together has just flown by. I will refrain from getting all mushy with you, but I love him more and more everyday. awwww...
This is how we celebrated our anniversary. Mike got tickets to a football (aka soccer) game and so we figured that would be our date night. I was really excited, thinking that it would be a packed house and people would be crazy and I might even get beer spilled on me! My first game in Prague!! Unfortunately there were no crazies that Mike had to defend me from, and no beer spillage, except for maybe while I was trying to balance my beer, while eating my czech sausage in a bun. There were a few full sections of people, but our section was pretty empty. It was'nt a big rivalry game apparently, so I guess I'll still have to find that crazy game to go to. It was really fun though and I got to cheer and shout still. Even if nobody understood what i was saying. After that, off to a great thai restaurant for some curry and coconut soup! It was a fantastic anniversary date! Love you, Sweets!

Andrianne & Rob came to visit
Our friends Andrianne & Rob Kemp came to visit us at the beginning of our time here. There were on a 6 month round-the-world trip (check out their blog ) and decided that Prague was on their list! Yeah! We had such a great time with them. As we always do. We took a day trip to Kutna Hora, which is famous for a church made of bones. Lots of the photos are from that day. Otherwise the rest are in Prague.

keep on keeping on..
So I have been working on organizing my photos and that means updating our blog! Yah! A shout of excitement and exasperation from the crowds! Or maybe just Tina.
These photos are going to seem a bit older at first, but i want to keep the blog in some sort of order. Besides that random post from Mike..
And I have decided that photo editing is hard! And I am not a photographer. So if you want photos, you are getting *all* of them. It takes me too long to pick and choose and trying to make everything perfect. So here it is. The good, bad and ugly..

Trip to the Amalfi Coast
+ Fly into Italy by 8:30
- Landed in Naples (what a dump!)
+ Into Sorrento along the coast within an hour of landing.
- Road to Positano (our reservation destination) was closed because of a rock slide. The agents says "I don't think you are getting through today..." then "come back this afternoon and find out."
+ Bus ends up leaving at 13:15- good news
- We still haven't heard back from our reservation in Positano.
+ we get off the bus in Positano
- it is pouring rain and we don't know how to get to the place we don't have a confirmation for.
- everyone speaks Italian, and we don't have a clue where we need to go.
+ we had a backup hotel name
- no address... as if we can find a street name anyway!
+ we pray to pass the hotel... and we do!
- we are wet... frustrated... and hungry
+ nice little place, good sleep, and a shower
+ we wake up in the SUN!
+ VRBO guy calls us and picks us up to the property
- half way there he tells us the pool is closed and there is no bbq
In the end, we stayed at the apartment on the hill, overlooking the town of Positano and the Sea.
What a time it was. Highlights were the architecture, boat trip to the island of Capri, natural grottos... and the cheese!
I guess I am going to have to write a bit on this blog... just to make sure something shows up. We'll see what happens.
